Bailey Konen (Massapequa, SUNY Geneseo commit) and James Hall (Massapequa) each had two goals and an assist to lead a balanced attack as team USA defeated Team Canada, 13-11, Friday in the opening game of the Brogden Cup at the University of Tampa.
The Brogden Cup, run by Legacy Global, features the Brine National Lacrosse champion, Long Island, vs. Canadian All-Stars from Ontario. All players are of high school age.
Also for USA, Connor Grauer and Ryan Weiss each scored twice and USA won 18 of 26 face-offs while seizing control with a 5-1 run in the second period to take an 8-4 halftime lead.
Brady Kearnan (Edge, 2018) led Canada with three goals and an assist and Payton Cormier (2019, Oakville Trafalgar High-Ont, Mimico Minor Lacrosse, Virginia commit) had three goals.
George Moschos had eight saves for the US and John Greenblatt stopped six.
